Hi, guys! It’s been a year, so I figured it’s about time to put another post out! This semester is ramping up, so I don’t know if I’ll post again before school is out.
Although I probably won't post again soon, I am going to commit to reading all of your comments and messages and sorting through those. I was nervous to read through everything when I haven’t had much time or energy lately, but you all are such a positive community, so I promise I will get to that this year!
Last note: I realized this year is going to be the blog’s 5th anniversary!!! So if I can, I will put a post out during the summer in honor of that! I’ll see if there are any requests for posts in my messages, otherwise I’ll have to brainstorm something good. :)
As the title suggests, I tried to find Webtoons that a kid could read. I explain what Webtoon is a little more in depth in my previous post about Webtoons. This is actually really hype because last time I wanted to find clean Webtoons that had some action, and I've finally done it! :]
#1 Plum (PG)
Guys, this is maybe the first Webtoon I have—finally!—found that is truly PG! When I first started reading it, I felt like it had strong Pokemon vibes, so not only is it kid-friendly, but I think kids would love it. The premise is that a sport called fruit-stacking has become insanely popular, and the main character, Plum, wants to become the fruit-stacking champion. He meets an eclectic group of characters throughout the story who really bring it to life. Not to mention, the art style is so colorful and pretty!

#2 Crow Time (PG)
I’m not as confident that this Webtoon is PG, but from what I remember, it’s good! This comic is technically on Canvas, so it’s not an official Webtoon, yet, but I wouldn’t have known that if I hadn’t looked it up for this post. (ᵔ́∀ᵔ̀) As far as I’ve read, Crow Time does not have an overarching plot–it’s just about a bunch of crows doing silly little crow things. I guess I would call it a part of the slice-of-life genre, for my manga connoisseurs. If you love cute, cozy comics, you’ll enjoy this one.

#3 Foxy and Teddy (PG)
This Webtoon is so cute and funny. :P It reminds me of the quirky TV shows I would watch with my siblings when we were younger. The premise is that two brothers with opposite personalities go on an adventure in the woods and make some bizarre friends along the way. So many whacky shenanigans ensue, and while the Webtoon does have a more suspenseful tone since the brothers are exploring creepy woods, it is ultimately pretty heartwarming.
From what I remember, there is no disclaimer I need to make other than suspense.

#4 The Last Dimension (PG)
In this Webtoon, a group of super-powered kids end up in an unfamiliar land where they have to learn to use their powers and work together to get back home. The Last Dimension is cute like all my previous recommendations, but I do think it has a darker tone than them, too. These kids were all recruited by the government, so there is something a little sinister going on there; not to mention some of the kids start out as bullies and are lowkey pretty mean. I haven't gotten very far into this story yet, but I see some pretty meaningful character arcs already being set in motion.
# of Chapters Read: 16 | Chapter Count: 120 | Status: Ongoing
#5 Dr. Kim of London (Upper PG)
This comic is pretty new compared to the other Webtoons right now, so I can only speak for how far I have gotten, but I think this one can be rated as kid-friendly even though it is not targeted at kids. This Webtoon is about a doctor who time travels to Victorian England and attempts to treat patients despite the prevalent harmful medical practices of the time (e.g. bloodletting). This Webtoon is very interesting and informative on top of being entertaining!
I have two disclaimers. The first would be that there is historically accurate racism (and sexism, etc.) depicted in this comic, since the protagonist is Korean and attending medical school in London. The second is that while overall the medical situations are depicted to a limited extent since this comic is not rated as mature, what is shown could still be traumatizing to a kid. In the most recent chapters I read, the protagonist was trying to find a way to help men pass stones without doing damage to their private regions, since the Victorians had a very… interesting way of treating that. So if you’re conscious about kids reading about that, maybe this comic can wait.
I feel like this comic is rated somewhere between Upper PG and PG-13, and that just depends on the person and what will bother you. If you do want to show this to a kid, definitely read it first and decide.

I don't have much to say to end this. :[ Even though I can't post much now, I'm planning to keep working on this blog indefinitely. If I keep posting once a year, then maybe we can reach a hundred posts before I die! JK, I'm thinking of working on this blog more seriously in a couple years once I have more time (hopefully).
Anyways, stay healthy, and happy reading!
